Willow Away captures that fleeting magic of early summer—when the trees are full and lush, the sky is endless blue with soft white clouds, and the grass hasn’t yet grown wild. In the center stands a lone willow tree, gently leaning, its branches dancing in the breeze. A few birds glide through the sky above, adding a sense of peace and freedom to the scene.
 
This piece was one of the very first I ever painted back in 2014—so early that I didn’t even date it (classic beginner move!). I was experimenting with texture and technique, learning everything from scratch. Tree trunks were carved into the paint with toothpicks. I used the cheapest paints I could find, but poured in the richest joy.
 
The original will never be for sale—and if it is, send help, because something’s seriously wrong 😂. That’s how special this one is to me. Willows have always had my heart—I have 15 on my property, and even when storms strip them down to stumps, they still sway like nothing can hold them back. That energy lives in this painting.
